My girlfriend and I are try to move in together at my home state. She is from Winsconsin I am from Indiana. She tells me moving costs are enormous she checked the cost to move from WI to Indiana. A mover she last used told her it would be over $2,000, but she lives in a small apt. They refered her to a bigger company, Mayflower and they told her about $2,000 too. Is this a scam? Is it really that expensive?
she says the company said a new tarrif came in this month that made moving across state really expensive.
Moving costs interstate?
I used to work for Mayflower, and that price sounds about right. She probably has the minimum 2100 pounds. Anything up to that will be around 2 grand. The more weight you pack in the less per pound you end up paying...so 30,000 lbs ends up being about 10 grand. And, no matter who she goes with, be sure to have someone help her inventory everything they put on the truck and take off the truck, also go for the extra insurance....it will be worth it.
One other option ...check out the POD movers. You pack the pod...they move it to the new location...you unpack it. Might be cheaper.
