After the Idol last night they aired a new show; "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?"
It was pretty good show I thought! Does anyone feel similiar to me?? I wouldn't have had a chance on there. I am NOT smarter then a 5th grader ;-).. allthough the "Mayflower" was an easy one!
Are you smarter than a fifth grader?
Yes I'm smarter than a fifth grader. They should turn it around for the second half of the show and have the fifth graders figure out which mortgage rates are the best, and then they should have to balance a checkbook, and then decide which bills to pay and which ones to let slide for another month because there's not enough money in the bank, and then figure out why the baby's crying while the dinner's burning on the stove....now THAT'S smart.
Reply:I would so have a million dollars right now. I really can't believe that most adults have forgotten so much. Maybe since I homeschool it keeps my brain more focused on those things.
Reply:i wanted to watch it really, but the perforners on American Idol were so boring that i fell asleep.... sorry
Reply:it just goes to show you how unimportant most of the stuff you learn in school is in life...
Reply:never heard of it, I'll definitely have to watch it
Reply:probably not, I don't use most of that information in my daily life. the show was okay, but I thought some of it was a little mean-spirited.
Reply:I completely agree with you....the mayflower was the only one I knew too...
I'm only 28 right now and have two little ones(3yr old and 1yr old)
and even while being pregnant with my first one I already started thinking I should try to review everything I learned (from elementary, jr. high, and high school) because I'd forgotten so much now and I want to be able to help my children with their studies or homework when they go to school, not look like an idiot to them because it's been so long since I went to school that I've forgotten everything so I wouldn't be able to help when they need it
Reply:hey i do not even know if im smarter than second grader
Reply:It was rather pathetic. That UCLA guy didn't get anything right. I am 29 and I only didn't know the math problem. The triangle.
I thought that one message this show gives out is "hey kids, after you get out of school, you'll never need to know any of the stuff you're learning" Good thing it airs after bedtime.
I don't see this one lasting. I also wonder how they choose the contestants, and do the kids get any money for being the ones who actually answer the questions??
Reply:well they picked stupid adults and smart kids, coincidence? I think not. And the first guy used all 3 of his cheats on the first 3 questions...dang he was stupid.
Reply:i watched someof it it was pretty good i got mad a couple times cause i was screaming the answers and they just wouldnt listen too me but for the majority those 5th graders would had kicked my butt
Reply:It was better than I thought it would be. I had fun watching it with my kids and these days there aren't many shows you can watch as a family. I like it!
Reply:that was an interesting show, i thoought and i would of had the chance to end up with a million dollars come on those questions are easy how can anybody not know the answer, but what was funny was that UCLA Graduate who didn't know who was the first president of the united states that was impeached was andrew johnson. but anyways i liked it
