Tell me the pleasure of a computer that doesn't shut down every few minutes and an interconnection that?

didn't come over on the Mayflower!?!?!?!

Let me know what you experience by getting to the page you actually want within seconds. I am considering ditching dial-up!

Tell me the pleasure of a computer that doesn't shut down every few minutes and an interconnection that?
You might get better results by doing some computer housecleaning: You could have too much stuff in your temp folder, so go off-line, click on start/search, and do a search for files containing these endings (copy and paste the terms):

*.tmp,*.chk,~*.*

Then delete them all.

Following that, go back on line and go to this website and print out the instructions on how to start the computer up in Safe Mode:

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum...

If that link is broken, google for "How to start in Safe Mode, Windows XP" and the same page should be near the top of the search results.

Once you're in Safe Mode, only a minimum of programs will be running.

Go to

start/settings/control panel/administrative tools/ computer management

and a screen will pop up with a list on it.

Click on disk defragmenter, then click defragment.

Find something else to do for a while because the process will take some time. Once it's done, shut down then start up the computer as usual.

These steps will give you a bit more memory to use and perhaps you won't be crashing so often.

No guarantee of that, though, so try installing the Firefox browser and Thunderbird email program. I find that Firefox rarely crashes.

And it starts up a lot faster.

Can't do much for the speed of the connection though.

You probably should copy this answer, paste it into your word program, and print it out.
Reply:not only get better internet but buy a new computer
Reply:Have not used dial up for over 6 years. It was to the point I would not even try to if that was the only thing available. It was so miserable after high speed that I would go without first.
Reply:OMG Girl I know exactly what you're going through

I'll be talking to my friends, and the whole internet gets shut down. Or I'll be talking to the guy i like and the phone rings and my internet will shut down. :-(

The only reason that I am not getting High Speed is cuz my parents pay for the internet, and I dont wanna cost 'em more than I have to.
