If you dont like that America was founded on Christian beliefs, what would have been a better option?

The mayflower compact is clear. This nation was claimed "for the advancement of the Christian faith"



Ever think its amazingly convenient that the nation that spreads the gospel most in the world (america) is the most blessed with abundance and freedom?



So, what would you rather it was founded on, Islam, judiasm....voodoo??

If you dont like that America was founded on Christian beliefs, what would have been a better option?
I thought America was founded on freedom of religion. No?

If you zoom out in time scale or look at the different time in history, you will have a different view point.



Look at the Roman empire, look at the Mogolian empire or Eypgtian empire. They all have their glorious time in History.



They could all claim their religion and faith were the "real" and "powerful" one.

Reply:This country was not founded on the Mayflower Compact. It was founded on the Constitution of the United States, which promoted many Enlightenment ideas, such as the separation of church and state.



Oh, and please... don't be absurd and reductionist with the other things this country could have been founded on. That shows an extreme naivete about American history and a reliance on creating absurdist maxims to promote your position. At least do some research, please. You're certainly smart enough for it.



PS - to the poster above: this country was not founded on atheism either. It was founded with the idea that religious belief (or lack thereof) shouldn't even be a concern. Remember, secularism is not "anti-religion." Secularism merely means religion shouldn't enter into the discussion.

Reply:America was founded by a mostly Christian group of men, but was not founded solely on Christian beliefs. Although there are Christian symbols and references in our history America was at the time a totally new idea of freedom and democracy and the separation of church and state. America was founded more on the principles of the original Senate and the People concept of the old Roman Empire prior to the empowerment of the ruling class of Emperors than on Christianity.
